Everyone knows that the engine oil is the bloodline of a vehicle. The evolution of engine oil has taken several leaps through the decades and here we list five important things to know about the new age engine oil.

  • Modern day engine oils last longer than their predecessors. Thanks to several years of research and development, the engine oils have become better at doing their duty over a longer period of time.   • Synthetic oils have low overall viscosity and reduced friction for improved engine efficiency and fuel economy. This is possible because of their superior flow properties and lower oil temperatures. Thanks to their high viscosity index, synthetic oils perform better in extreme temperatures and they do not become too thick when cold or too thin when hot.
  • Semi-synthetic oils are blends of mineral oil and 30% or less of synthetic oil. Designed to offer most of the benefits of synthetic oil at lesser price, the semi-synthetic oils offer extended lubricant life and improved viscosity indexes. They also provide better engine defence at higher temperatures and heavy loads over normal mineral oils and they are also not as subject to evaporation as the typical mineral oil.
